It was so nice to have Tanya drive to Kansas for one day. My bike trip would not even be possible without her total support. She liked the bed and breakfast where we stayed in Nickerson. She liked the hand painted animals on the walls. Before we knew it, a day had gone by and it was time to say goodbye again for another five or six weeks. I miss my dear, sweet wife.

In central Kansas, I could have taken a hundred pictures like these where the two story white frame houses are nestled among huge trees as wind breaks. I find them very charming.

Steve from Australia is on the right and Bruce is on the left. Bruce is from America but has lived in Australia for over 30 years. They have been riding hard as this is their 33rd day of riding and they are half way across the country.

Kansas has some of the best roads I have been on. The drivers are very considerate of bicyclists and the people are very friendly. An example would be today ... I stopped to visit a couple of cyclists on the road and a man and woman in a truck stopped and asked if we were okay and if we needed water or food. The rural roads are very clean. You just don't see litter. The small towns are very clean and well kept. I am in an area which has a lot of corn growing and right now it is a very lush green. I suppose if you love to fly kites you would love Kansas because the wind has not let up one day since I have been here. I loved going by all the farm houses which are set pretty close to the road on this Sunday noon. I could smell all the home cooking of roasts, fried chicken, and outdoor cooking. It made me hungry and I ended up eating some cheetos.
These folks were having a fun Sunday afternoon drive.
