It was very foggy when we woke Wednesday morning. We ate a good breakfast and I checked over my gear and bicycle. One of the last things I did before leaving Oklahoma City was get rid of all the things I thought I could do without in my trailer. After driving over the mountain passes on the way to Florence, I decided to get rid of a lot more stuff so I sent about 10 lbs home with Matt. Matt gave me all kinds of advice about what to do and what not to do like an old mother hen. He drove me out to the ocean where we hugged goodbye and went our own ways.

Florence This is the view out our motel window in Florence. This is a pretty little town. The grass and the trees are very green and every flower color imaginable paints the landscape of the homes.
I wanted to dip my rear wheel in the Pacific Ocean                              But not like this!!!

There were plenty of hills like this on my first day out. Honestly, they about did me in. You just can't train for this type of riding in Oklahoma. I should have stopped twenty miles earlier and I will shorten my daily rides until I get used to this terrain. I am happy, however, that the temperatures are in the sixties and below.

Oregon is an amazing state. It is either this ...                 or this

<> If a tree falls in a forest and there is no one there to hear it ... does it still make a sound? All the trees and rocks are covered with lichen. It is a beautiful sight but the locals don't see the beauty of it. They say it grows on everything including cars and windows.

You won't see one of these in Oklahoma                              Better not see one of these in Oklahoma!!!

There are hundreds of beautiful barns on this route                              Big Agnes and Ol'Blue tucked away for the night.
